A friend of mine went to high school with Timothy Olyphant, so whenever I see him I feel an immense amount of displaced pride. Just because I know someone who kinda knew him years ago shouldn't really give any proprietary favoritism, yet I adore him by proxy. It's just one of my quirks. I have similar problems with Jon Bon Jovi and Slash. It also might originate from a tinge of jealousy. No one from my high school became famous, so I don't have any exciting alma mater to tout as my own.
